New Skirt!

I just bought this skirt today at Saks, its really cute. The fabric is a violet brocade withe the three gold chaines at the top. I got this picture at style.com where you can see the entire Spring/Summer 2009 Milly collection, which was '70's inspired.

You can still buy this skirt on Berdorf's website and Neiman Marcus' website.

Shoes

Today I just went shopping and walked around the city. I didn't end up buying anything, but atleast I had some really good Japanese food. These are the shoes I wore today, they are one of my favorites. They are Prada gladiators I got last summer. These are super comfortable and its pretty funny that even some brands have made fake versions, like these DKNY sandals. The straps on both are exactly the same... this is a real obvious copy. The only good thing about the DKNY ones are that they come in other colors, I was at Nordstroms and even saw them in silver.

Also in Nordstrom I saw these sandals by Enzo Angiolini, they also look suspiciously familiar to my Prada ones.

The Fashion Designer's Directory of Shape and Style

I bought this book at Barnes and Noble, but you can also purchase it here, on Amazon. This is my new favorite fashion design book. It features an easy to use croquis, with over 500 different garments and details that can be used on the croquis. It also has fashion show examples of all the different types of garments and details. This is helpful to create a prototype collection and the book also features a textile directory. This book is great to get ideas and is overall a great resource for drawing clothing.

Sketches

These are some quick sketches I drew. I managed to get all the figures the same height and porportion because I used a croquis from this website. They are really helpful so that you can draw clothing that all fit on the same figure and it is also good for when you want to save time and not have to sketch out a person. Also i find that the porportions of the figure and the clothing are better when I use a croquis compared to when i just draw the figure myself.

Food and Music

I bought this cookbook yesterday evening that is absolutely amazing, I cannot wait to try some of the recipes out, since everything sounds delicious. You can buy it on Amazon here. I actually am not a vegan, I'm a vegetarian.

Nylon magazine recently came out with their big music issue. there are a lot of great musicians they feature in the magazine and on their website they even have a place where you can download 22 free songs! I already did and have really enjoyed the playlist. You can download it from here.

You can download the free playlist til August 31, 2009.

Wunderkind F/W 2009

I love stripes, but I almost never wear them. It was really interesting the way the designer, Wolfgang Joop, mixed the stripes and checks. There were also animals that appeared on dresses and coats. The collection was inspired by Suprematism, an early 1900's Russian abstract art movement( I got that from style.com). I just want to know where I can buy the tights, I think the supersized stripes on them and the checks are a really graphic and unusual print combination.

First Post!

I am on vacation for the next two weeks and plan on going vintage shopping and visiting family. So far I have managed to go to one vintage store near the villa I am staying in.

I went to a antique store, but I am not really into the furniture or anything but they have a really great selection of vintage jewelry. At the moment all the jewelry is 10% off, so i had to find something. I found this great pair of vintage earrings, they are metal clip-ons with these three blue plastic pieces that can be taken on and off. Thus, you can wear one at a time, two, or all three.
